about us

Woodturners of the Virginias

Purpose:

Since its founding in 2001 the Woodturners of the Virginias (WoVA) primary goals have been the education of its members in all aspects of woodturning and the promotion of interest in woodturning in Virginia and West Virginia.  Efforts toward these goals have taken various forms:  demonstrations at monthly meetings; technical seminars by nationally known experts; exhibitions of members’ work; skill enhancement sessions; book and tool purchasing programs; and the publication of a monthly newsletter.  The WoVA club is one of 283 local chapters of the American Association of Woodturners.

Â

Our Members:

The Club has approximately 60 members from the foothills of the Shenandoah Valley and neighboring West Virginia.  Member skill levels vary from novice to professional.  Member interests cover all types of woodturning including bowls, spindles, pens, hollow vessels, novelty items like bottle stoppers and much more.

Â

Membership:

Membership in the Club is open to anyone with an interest in woodturning, regardless of level of skill or knowledge.  Dues are $20.00 individual and $30.00 family, per year.
